Internet

We do not have cell service on or near our property. Most of our town does not have cell service. We do not have power lines coming to our home either. This means our only option for getting internet is through satellite service. We currently have satellite internet through two different companies: Hughesnet and Starlink. Hughesnet is a low power system that we keep on 24/7. The internet speed is slower, but it's fast enough for short videos and checking email. We have a phone line through Hughesnet that serves as our "house phone" so we can make phone calls when Starlink is not on. Starlink draws more power, so we use it during the day as long as the batteries aren't running low. It is very fast and perfect for streaming movies. We rarely lose our internet connection through either system. If a large storm is moving into the area we will lose internet connection for a short amount of time (no more than 20 minutes). This only happens a few times per year. Tracker has been able to work from home without any issues for the entire time we have lived off grid.
